An Exciting, Hands-On Jewish Education
At Lamorinda Hebrew School, children don’t just learn about Judaism—they experience it. Our engaging, multisensory curriculum captures each child’s imagination while building Jewish knowledge, confidence, pride, and a strong connection to their heritage.
Through hands-on activities, creative projects, meaningful discussions, stories, games, and interactive lessons, students become active participants in their Jewish education. Our warm and positive classroom environment encourages every child to ask questions, share ideas, and make Jewish learning personally meaningful.
Hebrew Reading with Aleph Champ
Lamorinda Hebrew School uses the acclaimed Aleph Champ Hebrew reading program, an individualized, level-based system that helps children learn to read Hebrew with accuracy, confidence, and fluency. Students progress at their own pace while celebrating each new achievement.
Hebrew and Prayer
Students learn to read and write Hebrew while becoming familiar and comfortable with the Siddur, the Jewish prayer book. Our goal is to give every child the confidence to participate meaningfully in Jewish prayer and community life.
Torah
The weekly Torah portion comes alive through stories, discussions, activities, and practical lessons. Students discover how the timeless wisdom of the Torah can guide and inspire their everyday lives.
Israel
Children develop a meaningful connection to the Land of Israel, its people, history, culture, and unique place in Jewish life. Our curriculum helps students feel proud of their Jewish homeland and connected to Jews around the world.
Jewish History
Students explore the inspiring journey of the Jewish people throughout history. They gain a deeper appreciation for the faith, traditions, resilience, and values that have preserved Jewish life for generations.
Shabbat and Jewish Holidays
From Rosh Hashanah through Shavuot, every Jewish holiday is filled with excitement and discovery. Children learn the meaning, traditions, customs, and mitzvot of each holiday through celebrations, crafts, food, music, and hands-on demonstrations.
Jewish Values and Mitzvot
Jewish values are at the heart of everything we teach. Students learn how mitzvot and Torah-based values—such as kindness, respect, gratitude, responsibility, and helping others—remain meaningful and relevant in today’s world.
Lamorinda Hebrew School proudly provides an engaging Jewish education for families in Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, and the surrounding Lamorinda community. Every Jewish child is welcome, regardless of background, affiliation, or previous Jewish education.
