About Our Staff
At Lamorinda Jewish Preschool, the adult’s role in a child’s journey is to support and facilitate growth and development in a warm, nurturing, and engaging early childhood education environment. To teach young children is both a great privilege and responsibility. Teaching is a mission — a valued and time-honored Jewish tradition. We look for preschool teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and who provide a caring and nurturing experience for every child.
Our teachers have a deep understanding of young children and the way they think, learn, and grow. They are dedicated to building meaningful relationships and believe strongly in seeing each child as an individual. Our teachers thoughtfully plan and adapt the preschool curriculum and classroom environment to meet the unique developmental needs, interests, and learning styles of every child.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our teachers see themselves as learners alongside the children — open to new ideas, creativity, and discovery. Teachers listen carefully, observe and document children’s work, and encourage critical thinking, exploration, and curiosity. As educators, we are committed to continuing our own professional growth and expanding our knowledge of child development and preschool education.
Our teachers encourage children to reflect, become independent, explore, cooperate, negotiate, wonder, love, and laugh in a joyful and supportive preschool environment.
Tzipora Labkowski
Director
Early childhood education has always been my passion. I hold a Master’s Degree in Education and have been involved in education for over 10 years. I have always been drawn to young children and their natural sense of wonder, curiosity, and excitement for the world around them.
I was a preschool teacher for 8 years, and for the past 3 years I have directed Lamorinda Jewish Preschool in Lafayette. Together with our wonderful teachers, families, and children, we have created a Jewish preschool where every child is respected, nurtured, and cherished. I look forward to another wonderful year together as we watch our children learn, grow, and flourish.

Rivka Burnstein
My name is Rivka Burnstein, and I have been working in early childhood education for over 8 years. Throughout my experience teaching children from infancy through preschool age, I have developed a deep appreciation for the unique way young children learn, communicate, and experience the world around them.
Working with children brings me tremendous joy and purpose. I love creating a warm and nurturing preschool environment where children feel comfortable to explore, ask questions, build friendships, and grow with confidence. I believe that every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and encouraged as they develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
My teaching approach focuses on hands-on learning, creativity, kindness, and helping children develop independence through meaningful daily experiences. I am continually inspired by children’s imagination, honesty, and natural curiosity, and I strive to help foster a lifelong love of learning in every child.
I look forward to another wonderful year at Lamorinda Jewish Preschool filled with learning, laughter, discovery, and growth alongside our amazing children and families.
